What year model NB do you have? Hard top or vert? I know where the receiver is installed on NB's that came from the factory with XM or Sirius. Are you looking for a factory like install? Or are you going with an aftermarket install?

Susan,
I have a brand spanking new 2007 NB Vert. Just picked it up yesterday morning at 10:30AM. I wish it did have it already in the radio, but alas this will be an after market attachment using one of their car-kit brackets. It's fine where it is located in my F-150, but when they mounted it in my wife's '05 Passat TDI Wagon, it went on top of the dash. I do NOT want it there. So yes I require inpit. According to the leetle icons next to my posting, it reads that I should go back and re-read the initial posting regarding this subjuect. Now I have to tell you , I'm still learning to navigate my way around on this site as well as learn what all the leetle icons mean. Jerry |

First, call back to the dealer and talk to the parts people (not the sales folks) and give them your VIN. Ask if they can confirm if your radio is satelite ready. In the beetle, the receiver is not part of the radio - the radio just has to be sat ready. If it is (I suspect it is), the receiver goes up on the firewall in the footwell of the passenger side under the carpet. There is a site where you can actually buy an OEM receiver - XM or Sirius. Then its a case of running the wire over to the radio and to the antenna. The antenna can actually go under the center dash cover and work quite nicely.
I need to contact a friend who actually switched his Sirius for XM. He traded his and hooked everything up and it all worked. If you want to do your own install with non-oem parts, you can still mount the receiver in the same place and mount the antenna in the same place and put your control module where ever. Good luck. |

I have this mount for my Sirius radio, should be the same. It mounts to the left side of the grab bar on the passengers side.

Plummkrazy,
Thanks for the input regarding the mount for my XM. Sue, I do not have a satellite ready radio. Sue, I called the parts department at my dealer and he inquired if I have the letters SAT on top of the right radio knob. He said that I do not have a satellite ready radio. No problem, I'll just go online and hook up with XM. Thanks you two. Is this a great sight or what? Jerry |
