Default 04 NB convertible audio question

my bug has the monsoon radio, with cassette, but no cd player. i checked with the dealer about getting one installed, but they would charge me $999.00 in order to keep it in warranty. my ipod will only work with the cassette adapter, but the quality isn't too good. is there a brand out there that will fit and give me a cd player without costing an arm and a leg. i'm in austin texas, if that helps. thanks for your help. i'm new at this site. cindy

BTW, you might want to check local car stereo shops, check installer's references also ask friends if they can recommend a good one.

Definitely check out Crutchfield.com. Many of the newer aftermarket radios have auxilliary jacks for mp3/ipod integration for much cheaper than $1k (taxes). I have an Alpine with changer/aux input which I use with my iPod and it sounds excellent. My changer is located under the rear deck, but not used very often as the iPod holds more than enough to last short and long trips.

Keep us updated!
