Question Can i fit a monsoon?

I have a 98 Beetle that has an aftermarket Kenwood radio fitted. I'd like to replace that system with a Monsoon cd/Radio from an 06 Beetle but I've heard that VW doesn't recommend this. Has anyone succesfully fitted the Monsoon cd/Radio player into a 98 Bug, and if so were there any difficulties I should know about?
Thanks.

i mean it will "fit." in 02.5 VW went from a 12v signal to a CAN-BUS system, so you'll need some adapters for that, and even then youll have to manually turn the HU on and off when you get in and out of the car. also, the monsoon system is three seperate components working together, the HU, the amp, and the speakers. to use the speakers, you have to have the amp. it houses the crossovers for the speakers. to use the amp you need the HU. to just put in the HU will be no better than stock. (well, you'll get the "mid" button)

so pretty much all youll need for the monsoon system is the HU, the amp, the speakers, some adapters for the HU, and the wiring harness from the donor car, because there is about twice as much wiring to the monsoon system.

enfig.com has the adapters youll need

Doesn't sound too hard but maybe I'll stick with the Kenwood for now.
Thanks for the info.
