VW OEM iPod adapter controls (help!)

Not really NB related but I figured someone might know anyway. My boss recently bought a MK4 GTI and I've gone in and installed an OEM VW adapter. Everything "looks" like it's working, the VW logo shows up on the iPod and the iPod's controls are locked out, but I can't find anyway to control it through the stereo. The head unit is the stock CD/TAPE Monsoon.

Any ideas? I figured it would be as simple as pressing CD and clicking through some tracks, that just results in the message "No CD" though.

I imagine there's a setting you need to adjust w/a vagcom.

I could be wrong, just a guess.

reset the ipod before to plug it and try again....
