Default Need Audio Advice 2000 Beetle

I have a 2000 Turbo Beetle with the factory stereo. I currently am using a cassette adapter to plug in my MP3 player. I want to get a new stereo with a jack for the MP3 and HD radio. I am scared to death that the installer will screw something up and it will start the electrical nightmare that VW's are more than capable of. Am I being paranoid? Suggestions? And the 6 disc changer is a piece of crap. Sometimes it works if the wind is blowing the right direction.

If you have a good shop install everything you should be fine. I have a big stereo in my 03 turbo s and I've had it for more than 3 years without one issue. The trick though is to be very careful who you have working on your car. Ask to see some pics of previous installs done by the PERSON WHO IS GONNA WORK ON YOUR CAR. Be careful here cause a lot of places will show you pics of installs that were done by someone else and claim its the guys work that's working on your car. Actualy ask the installer if he did the work in the pics. Usually the actual installer is more honest than the sales person. If the pics have wires all over the place like spaghetti and they're not neat than I suggest taking it somwhere else. Hope this helps.

Yes I also have a 03 turbo s, and have a new alpine deck amp sub sirius and ipod adapter, and all speakers, and I haven't had one problem. if the installer is a pro then you shouldn't have any problem, go to a noted place in your town! Good Luck :-)
