Default Satellite radio questions

Where is your satellite radio located in your car? Which satellite radio is better? Wanting to get one, was wondering where the neatest place to put it would be and which kind is the best

I have XM, and i keep the receiver in the glove box. Seemed to be the best place since you have openings that are already there to run the wires through. I have the antenna run out the side and right along the dashboard/window line..it sits neatly in the center/top of the dash. I think the choice between the two providers really depends on the kind of music you like. I chose XM because I liked the dance/techno channels better. Come to think of it...they are merging soon anyway so I guess it doesn't matter either way!

Mine is mounted on a Panavise mount located between the radio and the glovebox. As for which service is better, I don't know if there's a definitive answer. Sort of depends on your personal tastes.

I pulled everything out a little bit so you can see the wires on the left and right. The wire on the right runs to the antenna and wire on the left is the headunit.

Close up on the wires. (Sorry, I took these photos with my cell, they aren't the best)

The antenna. Contrary to popular belief you do not have to put this on the outside of your car! (Sorry for the dirty dashboard )

In my old turbo S, my Sirius kit was originally under the driver's side dashboard. I didn't like it there, so I mounted it under the driver's seat, and routed the antenna through the back hatch, following the wiring that was already installed.

You might be able to install it under the top center dash cover, and mount the antenna on the dash as in the picture.

I have Sirius in my 2006 NBC, and really love it. I have a friend with XM in his Toyota, and Sirius in his partner's car - he thinks XM is more sports oriented and has more "urban" (rap, heavy metal, etc.) than Sirius.

They're both comperable. It really comes down to which programming better suits you.

I wouldn't just assume the merger is going to go through. It's been almost a year since they announced the merger. The FCC and Government still haven't given them permission to merge. That's a RIDICULOUS amount of time to wait for a decision on a merger. So something's definitely up.

I chose Sirius because of Stern. I got it about 8 months before Stern moved to Sirius and fell in love with the music stations.

This is the location of my installation, though it's now in a Pilot instead of a CR-V, but same place. Though I view XM and Sirius as similar competitors, I have XM and really like it. I use it for the music....70's and 80's era. What I hear is that XM has a deeper inventory of that type of music compared to Sirius. FWIW, my antenna is installed on the very front end of the dash inside and works perfectly. My daughter got Sirius for Xmas and I installed her antenna in her Element in the same manner, on the inside very front portion of the dash and she indicates it works just fine.
