Default Bluetooth

Hey all...noob here. Wifey wants handsfree bluetooth in her NBC.

Any suggestions? She doesn't like the feel of the BT earpieces and wants the sound to come out of her speakers. Does VW have anyting factory?

Thanx in advance, M

if you want to stay with the factory radio, the easiest way to do it is to get a bluetooth receiver and a cd changer to line in converter (i forgot who makes these off hte top of my head), unless you have a newer bug with aux in on the bottom of the dash then you can just use that, but the install won't be as clean. That will give you sound through the speakers, and a microphone wherever the bluetooth receiver has it.

Other than that, you can get an aftermarket radio, most companies have ones that either have bluetooth built in or as an addon to compatible models. I played with a pionner with bluetooth at best buy 2 days ago, and for the price i wasn't too thrilled with the sound quality, but that's bluetooth for ya (i wasnt making calls, i was playing mp3s off my phone).

Somone more knowledgeable in this area will shurely help you out more, but I like to lay the simple answers out first.

To both the OP and Toad: Pioneer has a new model that has Bluetooth syncing for up to three phones coming out in a couple months. Looks a lot better than their current model, too. I've got my eye on Crutchfield, waiting for them to come in stock.

I added and installed myself a Parrot CK3100 (I think that's the model number, the last 4 digits are certainly 3100), plug-and-play with ISO connectors, no cutting or splicing. Works great. Placed the module just below my heat seaters, along with the remote controls for the radar detector I also installed. Works through the speakers, has voice dial, I love it. I went to the extra trouble of taking out the speedo pod and putting the mike inside the hood just above the speedometer (right in front of the Cruise light, which I keep on all the time and it bugged me at night anyhow, so nothing else is covered up). It works great, people can't believe I'm on a speaker when the top's down and I'm doing 80 mph...

eBay has them cheap. Here's info:

Thanks for the replies everyone. We were trying to stay factory if possible. I have looked at the parrot though. That might be an option.

For stealth install, try:

http://www.trailduty.com/product_inf...roducts_id=425

Or try the EgoTalk, or if you need more info, the Ego Flash...

http://www.egohandsfree.com/ego-flash.html

All ISO connectors, plug-and-play for our VWs...

There's a lot of new stuff out there, more every day... Google auto bluetooth, sema bluetooth, you'll find tons of stuff...

I know the Sony MEX-BT2500 has built-in bluetooth and is like $85 - $130 online depending on where you find it. Crutchfield will provide all the installation accessories and hardware to make the installation a very simple process.

That's funny. Yeah I wonder what marketing genius came up with that name anyways. And on top of that what Sony executives passed it and said "yeah go with it".

It's kind of like the translations I used to see in model kit instructions for the nice Japanese Tamiya or Fujimi car kits:
Engine food=Engine hood
past tense=PRESENT tense! (ex: "When painted engine food be sure extra spray")
Maybe over there "Explode" brings to mind exploded views of intricate and really cool tech.
