Default Stubby antenna...

I would like to replace my original antenna with a stubby or short one and was wondering if you all out there had any insight: what brand is best?, does it kill your radio reception?, any thoughts...

Thanks for your help!

By the way, I have a 2000 New Beetle.

I got one, but I hate the look of it. No idea what brand it is, but my radio reception seemed the same.

If you want it, I could ship it out for say 40?

i recently got a replacement S2000 Antenna mast...$17 plus shipping from http://www.handa-accessories.com/s2000-03.html

i like the way it looks, even tho' the lower part of the antenna is a bit bigger than the antenna base on the NB.

haven't noticed a difference in FM reception. AM reception is worse than stock antenna...don't listen to AM, unless i'm looking for the VDOT traffic report.

My shorty antenna pretty much killed my reception. I get only a few very local FM stations, but have lost some of the ones that are a little further away. AM is gone; nothing but whitenoise.

I also got the Honda one. The FM stations come in great, the AM is nothing but white noise I really miss traffic & weather on the 8's

Cut your original at the rubber (it trims easy with nearly any cutter) and see if it works okay for you. (Ghetto stubby mod) I did this and there isn't any real difference, the stock antenna stunk anyway

Check the link in my sig for the ghetto stubby mod.

I found it picked up stations every bit as well as aftermarket stubby antennas, so if you like the way it looks you have nothing to lose.

I wasn't sure who the OP of that mod was... Thanks, SMG!
