Default Could an aftermarket stereo affect your throttle body?

I was just wondering since I've had my beetle it's kept breaking down blowing throttle bodies left and right. Someone once suggested that the way the stereo could be hooked up could send some electrical charge or surge to the throttle body which I personally didn't think made much sense. I have a pioneer flip out screen in dash, two zapco amps with a cord hooked up to the battery, also component speakers in front and a sub in the back. I'm by no means an expert at this. Just trying to figure out what could possibly be wrong with my car and just another thought. Thanks.

I does your Beetle have an electronic throttle? If not (and it's got a throttle cable) - then the answer is definitely "no - it can't affect it".

If you turn the thought the other way round: the turn light signals, break light signals ect can effect your sound (by making ugly "klick" noises")...

Well I know it would suck but see if disconnecting the stereo for a while has any impact. That way you can rule out the stereo. Also are the TBs from the dealership or aftermarket vendor?

There's info on the K-wire ordeal some aftermarket users go through on VWvortex and in here too I believe. Don't know if it affects you, but there is one wire that may need cutting. If you plug in a protected VAG-Com cable with the led and it turnd red, you'll know if the wire is incorrectly hooked up. Again, no idea if it affects TBs.

It's a normal dealer throttle body.

Ah okay I'll check on that. But until then I do still need a new throttle body and i'll d/c the stereo for a good while.
