was wondering if anyone here could show some pictures or some how-to's on how to get my 8 guage power wire from the battery to the trunk in my 2000 new beetle
also was wondering the best way to run the remote wire and the RCA wires from the new head unit to the trunk. and one other thing....i'm planning on ordering my headunit from crutchfield, i selected the installation kit without the monsoon system and was just wondering if it's going to be a simple install as it's been in my previous cars (95 neon and 98 pontiac sunfire, both straight foward with wire harness adapter) or should i worry about it messing with the computer interface the car is a 2000 GLS with the 2.0 engine without the monsoon system. i don't have traction control or heated seats either and the car did not come with the trunk cd changer (has the mount/wires no changer) help with any of these would be great! Thanks everyone!

Mine is a 2001 GLX but they will be close enough for comparison, and mine is a 2ga cable.
Here is where mine lift the engine bay. ![]() And here it is running along the door sill. ![]() From there it is very easy to keep it going under the carpet all the way to the trunk. Make sure you run the interconnect cables along the other door sill. You can also look here for some more tips.

thanks for the info!
how'd you get it through the firewall to the interior...only thing i can think of punching a new hole, tearing out the dash and then running down along the door sill....getting to the trunk i guess won't be a problem...just getting it through the firewall to the inside of the car edit: i'ma try what was int eh link you gave me as well..can't remember now if my car is fly-by-wire or old school..i'll double check tomorrow and let you know |

I don't have any pics but I ran 0 gauge wire under the car all the way to the rear and then drilled thru into the spare tire well where I have my amps. You have to drill a hole thru the firewall or wherever you decide to have the wire enter the car. Just make sure you use a grommet where it comes thru(can't believe how many people overlook this and start they're car on fire) and put a fuse or circuit breaker on the line within 12" of the battery.
