Wiring difference between pre and post 2005 Monsoon?

I have a 2003 Turbo S with Monsoon cassette deck. I purchased a 2007 Monsoon CD/Sat and through the dealer got the security code and everything seemed ok after install. a couple days later my car was dead. a week after that dead again. then i was in my car and just happened to hear i hiss coming from the speakers, but there were no keys in the ignition and the stereo's face was still blank/off.

after doing a little research i guess the wiring changed a little after 2005? what exactly changed? why was the original unit switching the amp but the new one is not?

and one more question, what switches the amp in the first place. when you look at the wiring diagram of the 98-05 monsoon, the yellow connector pin number 6 is the amp switch but my original stereo had no wires in the yellow connector. is that a switch for additional amps? does amp just switch on/off when it senses a signal from the speaker outs (brown connector)?

New cars are CANBUS configured.

I don't need an explanation of the control system, after some research on this board i thought that Beetles after '02.5 were CANBUS and that in turn would make my 2003 "compatible" right?

Now if there were changes in the controls from my 2003 car to the 2007, that is what i would be interested to hear.

The "changes" are that CANBUS arrived in 2005.
