Default Stock Radio Replacement Suggestions

I am still running the stock radio in my 1998 NB It is finally time to upgrade this unit. I was looking at a Pioneer Am/FM CD player with a Ipod cable or outlet. Is this a good choice? I am open to any suggestions in the $100-150 range this radio was $129 + installation.

Thanks!

Cool

I still have my stock radio in CEL-ine (aka: Humbug),but I've put these Pioneer units in our Bronco II and our Sienna. They are very good units, good sound quality, and the controls are fairly intuitive once you learn the layout..

recommended!

Whichever unit you use, you will need an adapter kit. Those are available from Crutchfield fairly inexpensively. I changed out the stereo on our old '98 for a Blaupunkt unit and used their kit. It looked pretty good.

I love my Kenwood KDC-MP205. I believe it's discontinued, (just old), but I had one in my first car and loved it, I got it new for $102. Then when I bought the Beetle I went on eBay and got it for like $50 shipped. It has a CD player and Aux Input, so you can listen to your iPod too.

The best part? The lighting totally matches the rest of the dash and gauge cluster. The buttons glow red and the screen is blue. As you can see in this blurry cell phone picture:

Edit: FYI, the gauges that also match oh-so-perfectly are from Prosport Gauges. They're the Blue Performance Series. Mounted in an Autometer 20009 triple dash pod, I just don't have anything in the middle yet.
