Default how to get cd changer to play all random

Just got an 04 with Monsoon and changer in the console. The owner's manual doesn't cover the changer. We figured out how to load and select CDs, but can't get it to do a random play using all the loaded CDs. We can only get it to random play the CD that is up at the time. Is there a setting to get it to play random tracks from ALL loaded CDs? Thanks!

I am 99% certain that you can only get random off of 1 CD at a time.

It's a 6CD changer, right?

Here's what you do. Bring a single die (that is, one of a pair of dice) with you in the car. Once the song ends, roll the die on your dashboard, it's plenty large. Whatever comes up, load that CD, then hit random.

DIY FTW.

the reason they do that (or don't do that) is because it takes a long time to switch discs causing a large amount of no sound between each song, also would be a lot of wear on the changer itself.

speaking of wear, my 01 changer only plays disk 4 well, and 2 & 3 sometimes will play. Other than those, the others just don't work. It's almost time for the cd-changer harness adapter so I can just move 100% over to MP3s. I'll be tossing the changer out at that point since I can't live with selling it or giving away for someone to resell it to an unwary person on ebay as a good condition unit. Unless someone has a fix for it, the dustbin is where it will end up.

I may have an adapter for sale (well I have one I need to sell but still need to pull out the connection cable).... you using an ipod or something else?

I also have a 6 disc (can't remember brand off the top) changer that was in the 00 when we bought it, has the adapter so it functions with the factory deck. And at last use, many days ago, functioned just fine.

Hmmm... maybe interested in the CD changer cable. I need the one that plugs direct into the back of the deck, deleting the original changer once and for all. I was going to install a car computer at some point, but for now I'd at least like to use my MP3 player. NOT an iPod. PM me and let me know what you want for it.

mine. constantly.

That's why I've decided to get a changer cable that converts to an audio input, for MP3. I don't even HAVE disks anymore, and have to MAKE them for the changer!

boredom leads me on tangents often these days - went to read about this in the owner manual and found that it may be possible to mix/play ALL CDs randomly. (note: button 3 refers to the volume control)
I can't try it, running a Phatbox
(this is from my 1999 owner manual)
