Here's my radio code delemma: my wifes 99 NB's cassette deck is shot...tape stuck inside, missing buttons, etc....it's got to go. She wants an OEM CD player so I picked up a used one on Ebay but it didn't come w/ the security code. As suggested in many threads I called our dealer and they said they can't supply the code as they have no record of it. I called other dealers and they want $50 to get the code for VW. I'm a bit miffed because I'm spending 28k on a new sportwagen TDI that's mystery delivery date seems to slip every month. Now, I've just spent 2 hours scouring the internet for a way to find the code and it seems forum threads just run around in circles: buy an aftermarket stereo and then a long audiofile disposition on sound quality blah blah blah...this doesn't apply to her; keep calling dealerships until you get the code for free....which I really don't have time for, this has already been too much of a time investment as is;
Here are the specifics of my situation: Radio I am going to install - VWZ4Z7C0002572 VIN # of the car I want to install it in - 3VWCF21C5XM438226 Can anyone tell me a free way of getting the code? TIA! |

pull the radio out and look at the back of the radio. It is possible it might be there. Worth a shot any way.

Radio is in and working! I was anxious to get the head unit in and didn't feel like waiting for the radio removal tools to arrive so I made a set out of some tweezer arms and 5 mins on the grinding wheel. Obviously it helped a ton that I had an OEM head unit in hand to trim the tools to fit. Anywho, thanks a ton Kaiser!
