Question Audio + Video (+ nav)

Hi all;

I'm pondering installing a new head unit that features a flip out LCD display. There are oodles of these around now, many of which can be had quite cheaply. Can anyone give advice about installing one of these in place of the monsoon factory head?

I am ALSO pondering buying one that has navigation built into it... BUT the only one I can find that I know will fit a beetle is the Pioneer AVIC-N2, which is EXTREMELY $$$. So, has anyone had experience doing this and have any advice?

Thanks a lot

TT

I've drooled over that Pioneer headunit many times, but the price is outrageous. It was originally near $2k when it came out, but has gone down in the last year or so. I've seen them on E-bay before for $1200 or so, maybe you should check there. I've seen alot of good quality (and not so good quality) cheap flip out monitors on E-bay, but not every one has navigation.

Good luck with your search, and let me kow how everything goes. I'm also pondering a flip out monitor, but I don't need navigation. Just DVD/MP3/CD capable.

I actually just ordered the AVIC-N3 a couple weeks ago and got notification today that it shipped out. Pricey, but will be replacing my Garmin StreetPilot and adding an aftermarket headunit.
