Big change in wiring system since '04.
'04 is "before sat radio" in the VW world. Can't adapt later VW equipment because new radios are designed for CANBUS electrical system and earler cars don't have this. You'll have to go aftermarket.

Thanks, Ken; we opted for a Pioneer head unit, 12CD changer, XM module, and steering wheel remote. I'll put the factory stuff up for sale. I'm doubting that the new changer will fit in the armrest in place of the old changer though.
