Default Getting input signal for powered subwoofer?

I'm thinking of getting an Infinity Basslink for my new 2000 new beetle. I've replaced the stock speakers, but am still using the OEM headunit (non monsoon), and would just as soon keep it, because it fits the dash so nicely.

Question: how do you get input for such a device? I'm guessing the OEM radio doesn't have this (RCA output connectors) and I'd have to finagle the signal from the rear speakers somehow (?).

Thanks,

Chuck

I used:

"Okay, this is a blurry shot of a PAC - SNI15 Line to RCA Converter - this gives me two RCA outputs that are clipped into the rear speaker line outs of the head units"

See this page near the bottom...

'K! I got one of those now. I'm also trying to located some switched 12V+ power in the rear hatch area. Would rather not run a line from under the dash.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for all the great help!

I ran mine from the dash - sorry.

I remember someone wanting to know if you could wire something to one of the rear speakers as a remote on, but don't think it was possible.

I think I also looked into using the power on from the CD changer harness back there, but I never got anywhere with it, maybe you can research it and have better luck.

Actually I tied into the changer harness, and thought for sure it would be switched. You'd think, right? Not. However I notice there is a control wire in the harness and possible I could use that to key a relay... but you know, by the time I do all that and perhaps fail... coulda run a wire from the dash.

For right now the amp is just ON all the time. And that's fine if I drive the car every day, but otherwise will drain the juice and that's no fun.

Thanks for your comments anyhow!
