Car audio won't work after using power outlet

I have a 2003 bettle conv. It came with an aftermarket radio installed by the previous owner. Today the radio just didn't start in the morning. It has no power to it (it has a red light which indicates that power is on). i think it has something to do with me using the power outlet to charge my cell phone. What do I do to fix it?

Is power outlet still working? If not, check fuses!

i have a 98 beetle but it seems you had the same problem i had before i got my new stereo i was on my way to getting it installed when it just broke it wouldn't work or turn back on and it had a red light so i had then check it out before they put in a new one and sure enough broken so it sounds like you need a new stereo their pretty inexpensive and you still could get a nice one i have a pioneer and it works really well.
