Default How do I get Radio code?

I have a 99 Beetle. I have to pull the radio for a repair. I don't have to code. I bought the car 5 years ago used. How can I get the code? thanks.

i call my dealer with my VIN number ready as well as the code on the back of the radio and they give it to me over the phone. or you can look in the owners manual and there is a page that it could be written on.

some dealers want $$$ for it. if you have trouble give me the vin# and serial # off the radio and i can get it for you for free.

i'm off until next week though.

I have heard that the code is someplace in the trunk near the spare tire. Do not know if it is true, but it might be worth a shot.

I have heard the radio code is written on the radio itself on a sticker. I know the sticker in the trunk has the engine code, AEG, AZH etc.

If you were able to take it out, you should be able to find the code.

There was a guy on the Vw Vortex forms who would look up radio codes for free. Try going to http://forums.vwvortex.com/ and searching for radio code.
