So here's an interesting one...

Tonight I get in my car to go home, radio off. I push the volume knob in, radio comes on, but it is super loud and will not turn down anymore. It was just fine earlier today, but tonight its like it's stuck on loud... Also, when I turn it on, it doesn't say MONSOON on the display, it just goes straight to CD x trk x or whatever. It won't turn off either... You push the knob in and it stays on until you push the knob again (ie turning it back on) then it turns off and you can put the knob in (ie like it should be when powered off...) I've tried restarting the car; everything, but nothing seems to make it work like normal... Any suggestions? Do you think pulling the fuse would make it reset or something, but then I would need the code, right? ay ay ay... so strange!

any takers on this one?

thanks a million,

jake.

EDIT: It is a stock monsoon head unit that came with the car and has the 6 disc changer in the arm rest.

would super cold weather affect performance at all? i wanna say this happened to me one other time, but simply turning the radio on and off once fixed the problem...

Default Radio Reset

solved my own problem lol...

If radio ever seems to "freeze" or have software issues:

Note: make sure you have your radio code readily available!

1. Turn off car
2. Make sure radio is off (volume knob pushed in)
3. Locate and remove fuse 42 in cabin fuse box.
4. Turn radio on (pres volume knob so it releases)
5. Red security light stops flashing.
6. Replace fuse and power on radio.
7. Enter "safe" code if necessary.
8. Enjoy your problem free radio once again.

Will the radio automatically go out of safe mode if you start the car and it recognizes that it is in "its" car--assuming that you have the original HU that came with the car...?

My CD player wasn't working one time... and when i charged my battery, my CD's started playing... so maybe just take off the connection of the battery from the car? Dont take the battery out, but just slightly unscrew the connection. Then put it back in... but i guess you fixed your problem.

yeah, that would probably do just about the same things as pulling the radio specific fuse... your method just cuts the juice to the whole lot!
