Default Speakers in the latest shape cabriolet. A few questions for those in the know.

Hi guys

Can someone tell me if they know of some sort of specs document that would tell me the size (diam AND depth) of all the speakers in a 2006 shape (latest shape) cabrio / vert bug?

I'm trying to work out how this 10 speaker thing works.
Is it mid range and low range in the door and high end in the dash and then full range in the rear sides ? Even then that would only be 8 ?

I've got an Alpine CDA-9855 left over from my last car which I think I'm going to plug in as the one that comes with the car is a bit pants.
It puts gaps in between tracks, you cant see the time (how far through) on mp3 files either - 2 things which are quite a considerable pain in the ass to the way I listen to things in the car.

If I go for equivalents to the speakers that are already there, is it a straight swap affair?

I've got a left over infinity amp and some 6x9s that it would have been nice to squeeze in too/instead, but that's not realistic is it ?

Someone suggested to me that if I replace the head unit, the sound will still go through the original amp that feeds the speakers and I wont get any better sound, unless I rewire all the speakers - is that true??

If anyone knows of any good visual guides for the new cab bug about taking the doors / dash off that might make my life easier if I cant find a fitter then I'd be eternally grateful.

Sorry if I sound like I'm asking for the moon on a stick there! Answers to any of those would be a good help on me starting to change the sound system.

Thanks everyone.

Scott

Awww, cmon, someone with a 'vert musta changed their speakers !

Theres definitely 2 per side at the rear as far as I can tell.

Is this bass and mid/high ?

There are 10 speakers, so if thats 4 at the back, then that would leave 6 at the front, 3 per side ? high, mid and bass?

I can only see the dash grill and the grill on the door though, so thats 2 per side, not 3.

Confused.
