Default radio push buttons stop working

I was changing out the radio in my daughter 99 bug. One problem was with the push buttons not working, only inside buttons would work, 6 out of 8. I found the problem, the screws that hold the switch's to the face plate had fallen out, must be that fact that it's a TDI and it was assy. in Mexico. If you are carefull when you remove the face plate you can catch the screws before you loose them. I put the screws back and it works fine now, still changing it out.

AFAIK, all NBs are assembled in Mexico, not just TDIs.

When you say "push buttons," are you also including the ones around the volume knob (balance/fade, etc.)? Those are the ones that don't work on my stereo.

On a '99, the HU was made by either Panasonic or Clarion. Point of assembly for the car is irrelevant to build quality anymore.

My number 4 button doesn't work too well. I have to kinda pull it out before I push it in for it to work. I just chalk it up to an idiosyncrasy of the car. No biggie.

Yes, the buttons around the volume knob and the ones around selection knob. Again, easy fix when you get the radio out.
