Question Factory(OEM) Radio and CD player

Greeting's

Well today I mess up my wife's stock Radio w/ cassette player in her 99 Beetle TDI. She loves this Beetle and I am attempting to repair the Fan Switch. It stopped working and she thought she smelled some smoke. But that's for another post.

I did use the radio removal tool I picked up from Walmart, but the left side would not release. I ended up making my own tool with out the notch. While wrestling it out I cracked the faceplate, in two places and then I snapped off a LARGE CHUNK of faceplate.

The part number she has is 50-98 1C0 035 180 D PU-1635A

So on to my question. I see some VW Factory(OEM) Radio and CD player's for sale.

VW part # 1C0 035 196 Q White display Monsoon
VW part # 1C0 035 196F White display Monsoon
VW part # 1C0 035 196N Blue Display

She doesn't have a Monsoon as far as I know.

If I pick up one of these, will it work? Will the 6 CD changer in the trunk area also work?

Input needed

Yep, that sounds okay to me. It's not a monsoon; and as long as it was meant for a beetle, it should work. I'm not sure what car 1C0 035 196N was intended for, but I think it'll work for you.

After doing some research today, that my first thought is that the above radios will not work. The bus connector looks different than the one on the older radios. But the good news is I might have found a OEM radio /w cassette new in box for $30 +s/h from a shop.

If this works I will post the details for those who are also looking for a replacement at a low price.
