Ok, I've taken the door panel off, and this is what I have :
![]() Now, the speaker adapter I have is this : ![]() Which doesnt fit into the bit that was in the door : ![]() It just sits against those legs, meaning that the speaker ends up sitting higher than the rubber surround, meaning if I put the door panel back on, it would be up against the speaker and not the rubber surround : ![]() I'm guessing it's because the bit that was in the door, that I've been trying to fit the speaker adapter to, is not actually the real part that was meant to be there and has at some point been replaced by a cowboy? The speaker I took out had been screwed in with self tapping screws, so that's a worrying starting point. Any suggestions anyone ? |

Should be fine. My Fosgate FanQs are being held in with self tapping screws as they did not fit the factory bracket for the fronts and rears.

What do you mean, should be fine?
I cant get my new speakers to fit, thats not fine? They fit into the adapters/spacers ok, but then the spacers wont fit in anywhere. |

Theyre too small for the hole in the door.
From the left hole to the right hole in the door is 21cm. From the left hole to the right hole in the speaker is 16cm. I thought that was what the adapter was for, that it would fit into the 21cm hole and leave me the holes 16cm apart for the speakers. Confused. |

I'm gonna write a small guide once done for people with the new shape beetle as it seems all the info flying around is wrong for that shape. |

IMO the adaptor you got would most likely be designed to replace whatever rubber/plastic is already there. At least the adaptor I bought recently was designed that way. |

No, I can take one though, and will do before I put it back together.
Let me guess though - you have the older shape new beetle? I've got the later shape, and I think what they've done is make the holes considerably bigger on the newer shape, even though the adapters state they will fit 2006+ |

Ahh yes - 2000 NB here
I have my door speakers mounted now, next challenge is where to place the crossover and mounting the tweeters in the A pillars. I still have stock speakers in the rear and they sound pretty rubbish compared to the new ones I got on the weekend. |
