Default cd changer to official vw ipod adapter and back

I have a 2003 new beetle convertible and it has a monsoon tape cassette deck in the dash and a 6 disc changed in the center console. i would like to get the official vw ipod adapter kit from a vw dealer that you have to unplug the cd changer and plug in the ipod kit, so i cant use the changer with the ipod kit. is it possible to switch between the 2 by simply unplugging one and plugging in the other? or is there some programming that has to be done by the stealership?

I believe you would need to continually pull the radio out of the dash to do that. the whole point of replacing the cd changer with the ipod is to allow you to have a greater music selection via the ipod.

Pulling the radio out that much would put unneeded wear and tear on the unit.

Those are not what were being referenced. The PIE unit allows for switching between different AUX sources. These are just AUX adapters for a single source.
