Default 03 Turbo S Monsoon Door Drivers cut out/no signal

So, i had some work done body wise on my Beetle about a year back, and the tech never hooked the door drivers up when he finished. I let it drive me insane for six months then finally decided to get in there and hook em up. upon hooking up the drivers, the left channel never worked, and the right channel worked fine. over the course of a few months the right channel started getting fuzzy in the bass. over time it seemed to have gotten more prominent to the point where finally it would be essentially fuzz if it was getting a signal, and the other half of the time it was just dead. i have since disconnected both door drivers because it sounded horrible.

Any ideas as to why one of my speakers would just die all of a sudden, and why one would distort/crackle/cut out?

I will be getting at them with a multimeter tomorrow to see if they are getting any power. Where is the monsoon amp located on a 2003 TS? I would like to probe that thing a bit as well...

Thanks in advance

If it was the right channel that was fuzzy the most, then the wires are crossed, touching, or touching metal on that side, which wil cause the channel to buzz out, and also cause all the other speakers in the set to buzz and make horrible noises. If both sides make noise, and you made absolutely sure that the wire connections aren't touching, it means you need to run new wires from the head unit to the speakers, which is a little more of a pain, but the speakers aren't broken, relax.

Keep in mind this is monsoon, so I think that the issue lies in the wiring between the amp and the speaker. The glitching is not noticeable in any other speaker while it is affecting the passenger side door driver.

I guess what I am asking is: is there a known defect in the amp/wiring or otherwise that could cause this?

"You can also open your trunk and pull back the cover over the spare and look toward the left rear tail light (you need to stand on your head and look. If you see a small black box (about 7x6 or so), then that is the Monsoon amp. Check the wiring there because its possible the speaker wire has come loose there. "
