Lightbulb Radio STUCK please help!!!

Hi,

Yesterday, my ABS light came on randomly and it would interfere with my radio. Well, it went off after I parked and turned off the car. Well, once I got back in the car my radio wouldn't work. It's stuck on 98.3 and won't change to C.D. or another station. It's completely dead...any idea what this could be???? Oh yeah, and it has absolutely no sound coming out, and there are no beeping lights coming on...

Have you tried to pull the fuse and then replace it?

No, is that hard to do if you know nothing about cars? And is there a tutorial here, my boyfriend is not here to help me with this, but maybe an uncle and I can do it...Thanks for responding...

You can pull it...

Look here CLICK HERE

Open the drivers door and see if you have a little door on the side of your dash board hidden when the door is closed.

Fuse number is 42 there should be a fuse puller there also.

Pull the fuse wait a minute replace the fuse. See if that fixes your problem. My Jetta radio went dead once like that and that fixed it.

Oh it should have a 25A written on the end. I never figured out why a radio would need a 25 amp fuse.

Let us know if that fix's ya.

It's fairly easy to remove the radio, I know when I was trying to look for the serial code of mine it popped right out with some ghetto tools made out of folder arms. Or you can spend like 10 bucks or so and get some offical radio tools from the VW dealer, either way it's simple to get it out.

I'll try to find the thread for you on how to make the tools yourself.

Then once you have it out I would try maybe unplugging the radio from the back, to sort of reboot it. Or you could even try taking the battery out for a few minutes.

The fuse idea sounds pretty good too. Best of luck!

P.S: If you're going to mess with the radio, HAVE THE SAFE MODE CODE READY BEFOREHAND. Safe mode = annoying.
