Default No Power to Stereo

Just bought 2003 beetle. There seems to be no power to the stereo or lights in the ac/heater dials? Any suggestions?

Fuses are a good start. If you find one burned out and replace it and it burns out again there's likely another issue.

Questions:

Did you buy it from a lot or private party?
If you bought it from a private party did they have an aftermarket stereo but replace it with the stock before they sold it to you?

For the radio - if the fuses in the fuse block are ok, there is a fuse on the back of the radio that may have blown. You'll have to pull it to check that fuse.

The heat/AC controls have a single bulb that is located behind the blower knob. Instructions can be found here:

Do Your AC/Heat/Fan HVAC Controls Light Up?

Be very careful pulling the knob out (Make sure it is in the #2 position - straight up-and-down) or you can mess up the switch assembly.
