Default Engine Start Thump

I had been experiencing a bad-sounding speaker thump when starting my TDI. Would seem to "reboot" the (Monsoon) radio and/or change where CD is playing. Creates worries about speaker life, too.

Recently I think I found the the problem, i.e. there is plenty of play in my ignition switch. If I hold the key upward while starting, seems no problems with radio.

Is this something already known about NB and what's involved in getting a new ign switch? It is a heavy key, isn't it?
