Default Problem with antenna wire on after market radio

first of all..i love this site..lol i got my beetle a lil over a year ago and the factory radio was trashed.. missing buttons, broke knobs..etc.. well totally oblivious to the all mighty "k-wire" i put an after market cd player in. i guess im very lucky, because i havent had any problems, but i also havent had to have it scanned. the only real problem im having is the antenna wire. i bought an after market adapter, but i cant pick up NO radio stations. if anyone would have any ideas, tips, or tricks i would love to hear them..ty

Forgive me if I'm stating something very obvious to you, but just to check... I want to make sure you're getting this to work...

You do have the antenna adapter wire hooked up to a live power feed, right? No power, no reception...

Like I said, just trying to help...
