Default getting a little scared now

I have been reading up on aftermarket stereos in our new(to us) NBC. I am a little nervous about this K-wire thing i heard about. I am planning on installing a Pioneer deck I bought from Crutchfield this weekend. They are to send the kit to hook it up, but do i need to be worried about the k-wire still with the harnesses they provide? btw we have a monsoon tape deck head unit now. so what should be worried about, if anything. thanks

Crutchfield is very aware of the wiring issues which is why they provide the harness that will work correctly with the car. The harness should marry up to the existing wiring. If you cut something, then you have made a mistake. Read and re-read your instructions and if you don't feel comfortable, call Crutchfield for additional help.

In a word, you should not have any issues with the k-wire.

thanks susan. I am not a stranger to installing stereos, but this is my wifes new baby, and she would not let me touch anything on her car again if i screw up.

Hesteru is right. Crutchfield is your friend. They are VERY thorough and VERY helpful. If you need help, call them.

check out these systems...if you have the monsoon system then you have an amplifier...and you want something that will give you decent audio control...things like high pass filters and maybe even time correction. i just put this in my car yesterday. so far i love it...it is the first time ive gone with kenwood in quite a few years... usually i am a pioneer guy. but this caught my eye...and i got a deal.

check these out.

Pioneer DEH-P7000BT (dehp7000bt) In-Dash Receivers with Bluetooth Hands-Free Kit Included In-Dash Car Stereo Receivers and Head Units Car Audio and Video - Sonic Electronix

(the above is a model year old...look for the 710 or 7100...its got a better display and some cool new audio features.

Kenwood KDC-HD942U (kdchd942u) In-Dash CD Receivers with MP3 / WMA Playback In-Dash Car Stereo Receivers and Head Units Car Audio and Video - Sonic Electronix

thats the one i got...

has numerous sound tuning settings...so far i like it...and it works great with my ipod touch...

there is also this if you want bluetooth built in

Kenwood eXcelon KDC-X993 (kdcx993) In-Dash Receivers with Bluetooth Hands-Free Kit Included In-Dash Car Stereo Receivers and Head Units Car Audio and Video - Sonic Electronix

i really love the sound quality of alpine...however ever since they got pick up by best buy they seem to have push production to a level where...while they kept good quality in audio they lost it in build...i dont know if i know anyone who has bought an alpine recently who hasnt had problems with it..plus to get the good audio control you need additional units to plug into it.

good luck

will post pics this w/e. One problem i had with install was the mic for the BT's cable got cut while running the cable through. And there is not much space behind the the stereo for all the extra cables, had to smush them to get the stereo in. great other that that.
