Aktiv or non-aktiv or does it matter in an 05?

I recently bought an aftermarket radio harness off ebay and as i opened it i realized it said "for aktiv systems".
I looked at my speaker grills and they do not say aktiv anywhere and I drive a base model 05 so I'm guessing it does not have an activ sound system.
However when I look on ebay for a non aktiv harness, they are all 99-04 and some of them are not specified for either or they say that they are for either aktiv or non.

Did they do something different in 05 to where it can use either harness?

What I'm trying to find out is will this harness work or do i have to order a new NON AKTIV harness?

I think this should not matter at all. You need a VAG to ISO adaptor to be able to plug the new radio to the VW/NB harness.

An aktiv system and a passiv system are basically the same - the aktiv system has one channel for each speaker (meaning one channel for the front right mids, one for the front right highs, one for the front left mids...) using the amps crossovers or a sound processor. the passiv system has one channel for each speaker position - one for the front left speakers, one for the front right using seperate crossovers.

UPDATE: Installed my head unit last weekend and it works great. To anyone in the same boat i was in, and finds this thread, it does not matter if the harness is labeled AKTIV OR NON-AKTIV.
