ill be honest...if you know that little about car stereos id start by just taking it to a stereo shop or even best buy.
this isnt the easiest car to do an install on, and it could be very difficult for someone with little understanding. u do need keys to remove the factory radio. althou many times when pulling out the radio the radio harnesses dont like to slide out of the dash very easily. obviously the factory radio is much wider than an aftermarket radio. so you need a dash trim kit. i suggest metra. ud also want a wiring harness that connects to the original radio harnesses. what year is your car....its important to know...because you may have an issue with what many people refer to as the k wire. also do you just have a regular system or the premium. log onto metraonline.com and it will walk you thru the stuff youll need u should also need an antennae adapter. also if you decide to tackle this install yourself...remember once you disconnect the factory radio..to put it back(if you for some reason have to) you need to have the radio code...which used to be on a card in your owners manual. there are many tutorials on how to do this install on this forum. so you can definetly try it...but in my honest opinion... id have a professional do it. someone that warantees their workmanship. im quite sure others will concur with my feelings...but if we can help...let us know... just know that its not as easy as most cars... also keep in mind that without cutting pieces of the interior of the dash...there are some brands of radios that just wont fit in the car. brands like dual and jensen are usually very deep. if your looking for something to control your ipod well id suggest pioneer, kenwood, or alpine.....each have their benefits and downpoints thou...if your curious i can get into that more... good luck |
