have fun with that.
buy a line output converter(loc) most of them suggest that they be grounded and t-tapped into the pos and neg wires of a set of speakers(both left and right)...however due to the fact that bass is mono ive always just twisted the positives together and the negatives together and t-tapped them into the pos and neg of one of the rear speakers. grounding it is not necessary either...at least in all my installs ive never had to ground it..its really just in case there is noise or feedback. also most locs have small adjustment knobs...they are factory preset...dont mess with them. the loc will provide you with your rca output. if it were me id make the wires on the loc longer by splicing in some speaker wire and tapping into the rear driver side speaker. (the panel covering the speaker is easily removable), anyways id position the loc on the floor below where the bottom of the back seat rests. then the rcas can be run to your amp.(ud need a very short set of rcas...6 or 7 feet should be more than enough) |

the rest is basic. run a power wire from the positive terminal to a fuse withing 12 inches of the battery. then run the fused power wire thru the firewall(there is grommet straight back from the positive battery terminal on the firewall, hidden by the air filter box) and along the driver side of the cabin. youll have to replace the underneath panel of the dash. and loosen the panel that houses the hood release. the door seal panel easily pulls out. depending on your gauge of wire will dictate where you run it along the side...smaller wire can just be tucked along the side...but i ran mine under the carpet...in the channel (ull see when you do it) U can easily ground your amp in the rear of the car. i did mine on the metal that sits where the back of the back seat meets the floor.
all you have left to do is run a remote turn on lead. u can use a very thing stranded wire for it. easiest thing to do will be to test fuses in the interior fuse box (drivers side of dash) for a circuit that is hot when the key is turned to acc and on, but not start or off) once youve found a fuse (prob a radio or wiper fuse) pull it and test which side of the fuse blade is protected. (pull fuse and use test light to test both sides of the fuse socket...the side that doesnt light up hot when the key is turned will be the protected side of the fuse. strip a small portion of the wire...put it in the protected side of the fuse socket...then put the fuse back in...pinching the striped wire in place...then run that wire back along the power wire. its a pretty simple process...althou there is alot to do...and if your not the experienced installer it can be time consuming. ive had enough experience that i could do that install in less than 40 minutes. but for someone following directions and looking for pictures it could take considerably longer..esp if you dont know how the panels pull apart. but its not a hard install. |

tuning will prob be the most difficult part....hopefully you have a bass knob for your amp...but if not you can somewhat control your sub volume by fading forward for less sub or back for more. if you have tuned a sub before its best to have a pro do it...but you can always just try yourself. just turn up your stereo to about 80 percent volume...(and that is 80 percent of what sounds clean and undistorted) then tune in the sub(turn up gain til it starts to clip or bottomo out the sub, then dial it back down a hair)....depending on the music you listen to is what dictates where youll set the cross over on the amp...but i hate low midbass...if your like me youll set that in the mid 70s-80s range...if you like high bass then set it up to 110 or so.
good luck...sorry i dont have the pics to go along with it. |

i want my amp to turn on with my radio. i was wondering if there was a signal wire going to the factory monsoon amp that i could "t" into. i already have a sub installed and working, but im tired of having to tunr my key on to listen to music with my sub while the significant other is shopping or whatnot.

just tap the wire into a fuse that becomes hot when the key is in and turned to accessory...like maybe the radio fuse...just make sure you strip the wire back only a bit and put it into the fuse holder for the radio fuse on the "fused" side of the fuse...gotta make sure you protect ur car.
i usually use the windshiel wiper fuse for this thou...if they turn on when the key is in acc. then use that...just again, make sure you put it into the fused side of the fuseholder...then push in the fuse. |
