Default Door speakers

Hey all. My door speakers are shot (not surprising since I believe they are original, the car is 10 years old, and I love me some loud music ).

I have some speakers to put in, but in looking through the Bentley it says I have to drill out the pop rivets and then put more pop rivets back in. Is there anyway to just screw the speakers back in? I think its a dumb idea that they are riveted in...

they are speaking more of factory replacements.

when installing aftermarket replacements youll notice the originals have a big adapter plate and spacer built in.

you really cant salvage it...so youll have to use either some metra spacers...or cut yourself some 3/4 inch mdf rings to put on the door. most aftermarket speakers will need this spacer so that the magnet does not interfere with the window and what not.

if you align the spacer right on the door(it can interfere with the fuel door and trunk release if you arent careful) you can pre drill the holes thru the spacer and zip a few 1 inch screws in...then use some half inch wood screws to attach the speaker...just remember to not over tighten the spacer...if you do it could bend it abit and cause the speaker basket to stretch or bend a bit...giving you some odd sounds in playback.

good luck

Crutchfield electronics has adapters to put speakers in after you drill out the factory ones.they also have wireing adapters to plug into factory wireing if you want to use them.
