Stero Won't Come Out

I'm trying to remove the stero from a 2000 GLX. I purchased the DIN keys from a parts store, but cannot get the keys to "click" in the slots.

Any suggestions?

This is ten times easier if you have had a chance to see how the catches on the stereo work, basically you are trying to put the fine end of the key into a slot in a spring loaded blade and move the blade towards the centre of the stereo unit to disengage it from the stereo surround. You can work on one side at a time, the stereo will move fwd 1-2mm when the catch is released, then you can do the other side....
