On UK spec the code is held in one of the car ECUs, after refitting the original factory stereo just power the ignition on and after a few seconds the "safe" clears and away you go....

It's not unheard of for the factory to write the radio code in or near the spare tire well - check back there!!

It appears that your last option is to visit your local stealership for the code.

Did you try just plugging it in, turning the radio and ignition on and leaving for a few minutes, seems off that having the radio onboard via another ecu would be a Euro-only thing....

On US cars you have to enter the code to get the radio to work again.

This is why I'm glad my car has an aftermarket unit.

Yeah -- the right to bear arms is dwindling as we speak . I'll prolly get a Blaupunkt aftermarket radio -- lololol --it happens -- the factory radio has locked up and wont take a code now -- even after 2 days waiting

I had a Blaupunkt in mine when I got it. Now have a Sony unit in the car (perfect color match to the red and blue lights in the car!)

If the radio has gone INOP, then you have to leave it powered up for a solid hour to get another chance at entering a code.
