cassette for cd swap

I've got an '04 NB and want to replace the oem cassette with the oem dash cd. Is there any model yrs. that won't fit? I'll be getting a used one. The dealer as usual proved to be useless. Thanks in advance.

I think they are pretty much interchangeable. I just did the swap in my wife's 2000 Beetle TDI from a oem cassette to a oem cd player from an '05 Beetle. It was a direct plug in and I didn't even have to put in a code to get it to work. It was a piece of cake, 5 minutes max. Good luck with the swap.

Just make sure they're both either non-monsoon units, or their both monsoon units. You should be fine.
