Default need help with ipod cable...

i have an 04 NB convertible, and i just installed an after market ipod adapter, ran it through the glove box to the port in the back of the radio, when i first tried to turn the radio on it said i needed a code, but then when i started the car everything worked expect for the ipod, it charged but no sound.

I have the CD and CDP buttons on the right side of the radio, CDP (plays my cds) and CD which i think is the button i should be hitting for the sound for the ipod when connected to this new adapter i just bought, but no sound...
after getting no sound, i tried almsot every button possible, still nothing...

Any help would be great, i am not sure what the problem is, i know aftermarket is cheaper(and cheaper quality) but i would think it should atleast play, other than it not being top of the line , maybe i would be doing something wrong, i know it is hooked up properly.
Thanks in advance
-Laura

I would think you hit the button that changes the function from CD player to radio, as it should also change it to auxilliary mode. I would think that it would work on the auxilliary function on the deck.

I would also make sure the iPod is turned all the way up. I had an aux. adapter for an mp3 player and you couldn't hear any sound unless the volume was all the way up on the player.

I'm sorry I'm not of much help. I don't even know what the stock headunits look like to be honest. My car came with an aftermarket one and I've replaced it with another. My aftermarket unit has a general "function" button that switches between cd, radio, and aux. If you have an aux. plug in the back of the radio, there has to be a way to put it to the aux function.
