Default what type, size, box type for subs?

hey folks.

this is a fairly detailed question...im more so looking for a opinions...

so i have a box built to fit in my spare well. its roughly 1.5 cubes common air cut for two 10s.

i had two 7500 series mtx subs...which i loved...but sold for quite a profit.

ive always wanted to do diamond audio d6 or d9 (also called tdx or hex pro) subs.

currently i have 6.5 inch components all the way around running off a diamond d6 4 channel (totally blows my mind)...im looking for bass that can be kept at a resonible level, but also cranked...loud. my mtxs could hit in the mid 130s...and actually made my gas pettle bounch off my foot....so honestly going louder isnt a necessity. but cleaner would be nice to match the highs.

i know d6s and d9s are recommended for ported or vented boxes. but ive always prefered the sound of a sealed enclosure in a hatchback.

so i have two choices...i can buy two tens and put them in the box i have now....which will allow more airspace...and the positioning of the box with the subs firing straight up along the hatch really worked well with the mtxs....and limited car vibration to a simple exhaust rattle when cranked.
or i could go with one 12 in a vented enclosure.(as two tens in a vented enclosure would use the entirety of the trunk and fire inches away from the tailgate...most likely hampering the wave, and causing massive rattle)

what do you guys think....

also with two tens ill purchase the d6 1200 watt rms mono amp...and run at 1 ohm..while if do the 1 12 ill purchase a jbl/crown bpx series 700 watt rms amp. both are class d...

im also thinking of replacing my 5 farad capacitor with a capcell....has any one had any experience with these...

im also open to other suggestions....althou im looking to keep expenses to less then 500 bucks...which is crazy cause that d6 amp alone retails for 800 bucks....thank god for internet pricing.

id love to do a jl 13.5 w7...but its just too expensive...and everyone knows and has heard of them...i like to roll a little under the radar when it comes to name brands...and ive always like having stuff that surprises people.

ive heard great things about re and arc audio, someone even suggested jl 10w3s for the box i have....but they would cost the same as the d9s...and the d9s are comparable to the w7s...by most reviews...

im not looking strictly for spl...im also looking for good sq.

sound subs like the orion hcca, and re xxx are outta the question for price and wattage needed...

also has anyone heard anything about the new mb quart discus line of amps...i know its there entry level stuff...but ive heard good things...is it worth saving 50 bucks and buying there 1500 watt amp...

ill link all the items below...

if any of you have suggestions or thoughts...please comment.

and please dont suggest sony explods...haha

When I was looking for a smaller sub box for the fox, I decided to go from 2 10's on a sorta small sealed box to a 12 in a really small sealed box.

I needed a sub that would work well with my sub amp that I already have, and have had for a long time, and puts out 280w rms bridged.

I wanted to go W3, but I didnt' wanna pay JL prices, and then I saw the Alpine type-s. It had the specs I wanted, and the reviews I read about it said it was almost as good, if not better than the w3 in sealed enclosures.

The sad thing is, that it didn't sound as awesome as i thought it would in the fox. I thought it was the tiny (i think .75cuft) sealed box.

But I took the teeny box, amp, and sub into the audi. And I'm assuming I spent more time adjusting the gain levels and crossover cutoffs in the audi since i went overboard on the coaxial speakers (ebay focals ftw!), the same sub setup sounded unbeleiveable.

So if you want something a lil on the cheapy side, had awesome sound quality, and you want to use the small-ish dual 10" sealed enclosure. look at the type-s (dual 4-ohm, dual 2-ohm).

I know I'm not getting major spl, but i dont want that.

so ive decided to add to the list of potential sub set ups.

i always wanted to do a system with just 8s....but it seemed the only 8 out there worht building a system with was the jl w7...

being as that i dont want to buy a 8 that costs that much i always had a hard time finding a suitable 8 that was affordable to do in a large quatinty....

well i found one i like....re audio rex8d4

.3 cubic foot sealed enclosure...so i could do four subs in a very small box...1.2 cubes total. and they are quite affordable on many different sites...so affordable that i could buy at least 6 of them or one jl8w7....

anyways...for now that is front runner as an idea....im also considering the two tens idea, to utilize the box i have built....but also purchasing 1 single high end 12...however that idea would use the most room....i know ill never have alot of trunk space....but im trying to keep the speakers from boucning off the hatch...haha....

let me know if you guys have suggestions...

oh and if your unfamiliar with re audio....they are part of the same company that makes u.s. amps...pretty good stuff.
