Default radio and ignition

Hello,

Re a 2002 1.8 Turbo: Should you be able to turn the radio on when the key is removed from the ignition?

Thanks

Radio should be off if the key is out of the ignition.

my 02 Turbo S, after the key's out & the car's off, I can push my radio button & it works, for about an hour. I have the Monsoon radio/cassette player.

AFAIK any radio (stock or aftermarket) will turn off when the key is removed. Stock radios can then be turned on again (without the key in) and will shut themselves off after approx 1hr.

Yes, you should.......as stated, it will run for an hour and then will shut off. In my 2004 1.8 turbo the radio will play until a door is opened and then it shuts off.....after the key is removed.
