Unhappy The volume knob...

This has been bugging me a week or so now and I just have to know... I just recently purchased this 2010 New Beetle. While driving at night with the dash lights on, I noticed the Power logo on my volume knob doesn't light up. Are they supposed to? It looks rather out of place NOT lighting up with the rest of the radio unit. Did I get a lemon?

I mean it works fine, it feels a little stiff when it turns... but it does it's job. It will turn the unit off and on just fine. It will adjust the volume and balance just fine. But if it's supposed to be lit and it isn't lit, well... I'm the kind of person that will go crazy thinking about it all the time. Every time I look at it at night, I'll know it's not right. I don't imagine it will be so simple as a fuse. I imagine a blown fuse would cause the whole unit not to light up. So what's the scoop guys? Dud?

The scoop is that your car is under warranty so asking for DIY advice isn't worth the trouble. Go get yourself a new radio on VW's dime.

What I was asking was if it was supposed to be lit in order to determine if mine is even broken or not...
What I wanted was some comparative analysis, not an explanation of my 3yr/36k warantee...

If it doesn't light up like this it's broken.

Do the 2010's use the same radios?

A dead radio doesn't make a car a lemon.

Don't mouth off to people. He was just telling you that there is no real reason to try and DIY it... just go to the dealership and make them look at it... it'll be free. Did they give you an owner's manual? I'm SURE it has a section on the radio.

Other than my Disc player being where the tape deck in that unit is, they appear to be identical.

I wasn't implying the car was a lemon, I was talking about the radio.

I didn't ask how to pull the radio out and fix it. I asked if the Power logo (zero with a one in the middle) on the radio's volume knob/dial lit up red with the rest of the console. The response I got was to talk to the dealership about it. Why have a community of beetle enthusiasts if we can't ask each other even simple questions about our cars without being forwarded to the manual or the dealership?

The manual covered many features of my radio, not a one of which about specifically what parts of the radio lit up with the dash at night. I didn't feel I needed to refer to expert mechanics about the issue when an entire forum community has used their radios at night at some point (I would hope). I'm sorry if my previous response sounded rude... This one probably seems a great deal worse by comparison.

Ah maybe I misunderstood. I thought you meant the glowing ring around the power button was burnt out and you wanted to go snooping for blown fuses on your own. That's why I suggested it wasn't your problem. Glad it's solved.
