Default Stereo keeps resetting itself when engine turns off

have a jvc headunit, everytime i turn the engine off and back on again, the sterio will start from track 1 again on the cd and all the settings have been reset.

its a 2000 beetle had a cd changer in the boot, now disconected

apart from that all works fine, goes on and off as it should with the turn of the key.

Did you just install it? Sounds like its not hooked up right. I know mine did that when I first had my Sony unit installed and it was because the cables weren't hooked up right. You aren't getting the constant power that you need for the radio to keep the settings. Power is getting cut when you turn off the car.

the yellow wire needs to be connected to an un-switched 12v lead.

heres some good into

http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/VW-Wiring.pdf

on the black plug you only want to connect the yellow/red wire, red/white wire, and brown wire, unless yor radio has a dimmer lead than you can hook that one up too.
