Default tweeter, front speaker placement.

after having my mb quart premiums for about 9 months i decided it was time to installl the tweeters yesterday. instead of placing them in the sail panel as the originals were (which i once replaced with eclipse neodymium tweeter) i decided to surface/angle mount them on the dash...near the same area where the monsoon dash speakers would be located.

for the longest time i wanted to get a spare set of dash trays from a monsoon system vehicle and simply replace the small speaker they had in there with these oversized tweeters. (they are so big that actually have a surround) and they wouldnt have fit in the sail panel without some serious modification.

so i pulled the panels and mounted them...very simple...probably took me longer to find my t15 bit then it took me to install the tweeters. the look of them on the dash isnt too overpowering...and the sound is so much better. when i first bought the mb premiums i assumed the crossover is where you got the most improved quality...not the speakers themselves....so i just ran my smaller eclipse tweeters in the original location. thinking the new crossovers would make them sound better. which they did...but wow does it sound way better with the new tweeters installed and facing up into the glass slightly angled into the cabin....so good in fact that i think i might try to build a set of sub boxes in place of the rear speakers. maybe a fiberglassed set of 8 inch sub boxes where the original rear speakers were. anyways...thats down the road.

just wondering if anyone else has had a huge improvement from as similar upgrade of tweeter replacemnt. or if anyone has done the 8 inch subs in the rear seat side panels?

otherwise...if you havent replaced your original speakers, and tweeter. i suggest you do so....the new placement on the tweeter has greatly improved the sound.
