Default How do I change the equalizer presets in my 99 NB?

I bought the car a few months ago and have been very happy with it, but I absolutely can not figure out how to change the equalizer presets for the stereo, specifically the tape/cd changer. I'm attempting to connect my iPod to the stereo via a tape converter, and as soon as I insert the tape the equalizer changes from manual to "METAL", which is super high treble and zero mid range with low bass. Basically, it sucks.

Attempting to change the equalizer manually does nothing, it just stays on the METAL setting - the reason I'm asking here is because my Owner's Manual does not have book 3.4, which has the controls for the stereo.

If anyone knows how to adjust the equalizer presets or even where I could find a .pdf copy part 3.4 of the User Manual, I'd be very thankful.

Do you have the factory radio like this one?

I've never seen a bug that has preset equalizer settings like you describe (Metal, Rock, Jazz, etc)

I do, though it's just the tape deck (no cd player, though it does have a button that says CD). I can take a picture of it tomorrow as it's a bit dark right now.

i dont think the radios have equalisers built in them. If you change headunit however you will notice a missive improvement in sound quality as the factory ones are quite poor, but they have good speakers.

okay, the 'metal' display when your using a tape isn't a eq preset, its saying the radio thinks there's a type 2 tape in it. The reson it sounds bad is because casette adapters suck. Especially new ones, they're just made horribly.

Well, that stinks!

I prefer using the tape converter because there's no audible distortion, and the stock speakers are crappy anyway so I don't care if it's not as high quality as my radio converter (which hardly works in Milwaukee because of all the local FM stations).

Thanks for the help, guys.
