Right side speakers not working.

Hey everyone, coming here with a problem my wife's 2000 new Beetle GLS is having.

She started complaining that her speakers were blown, so I went out to take a look at it. System is (or was) totally stock. I had a listen, and the right side F+R 6.5s are not working period. No static, buzz, fuzz or anything. The right side A-pillar tweeter IS working however, but doesn't seem to be getting a lot of power.

I bought a new JVC CD player and installed that, hoping it would fix it, but with no luck. The wiring inside the dash looked intact.

Where would be the best place to start looking?

If you have time and patience, take off the panels to get to the speakers. Remove the speaker and use a 9 volt battery and you can shock test the speakers. If they make a pop or crackling sound with the battery on the terminals, they are usally good and that means to start looking at the wiring.

Yeah this happened to me. It wouldnt be a suprise that when you take the door panels off, That you will find the magnet on the back of the speakers have broken off. Thats what happened to me. Man I still wish I had the picture, it was so funny... I was like man WTF. But yeah I got a set of Pioneer ts-g1643rs for fairly cheap, and they sound good.
