Default Center Console Storage Solution?

I have an 06 Bug but the Asia-Pacific models seem to be different to US vehicles in that they still have an 05 console (amongst other things). I'm wanting to remove the cd stacker from the console and replace it with a storage compartment/pocket.

The head unit is going to be replaced with a USB capable unit so the changer is no longer required.

Any ideas? Is there something out there to fill the void the changer will leave in the console or will I need to fabricate something?

Thanks

VW has an insert for the non-cd changer option. Check with you dealer. I do not know the part number.

Thanks Duffy.

I just found your post on lighting up the console ('Light Up Your Center Console Storage Box'). Nice job Man

That's exactly the insert I need and I now intend to light it up too.

I've searched everywhere for that part number. I will probably need to buy it online as I'm nowhere near a dealer where I live and we get stung really bad on prices with dealers for oem parts here in NZ.

If anyone can point me towards an online supplier, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Try Ebay or Amazon.

I ended up pulling the CD Changer out and leaving the coin/card holder in place. The cavity left fits a DIN storage pocket exactly. The same used in the dash on some Head Unit replacements on cars where a double DIN OEM unit came out and a single unit is fitted (or similar). It was real cheap and looks great.

Thanks anyway.

I've had a lot of trouble finding exploded diagrams/schematics online to source OEM part numbers for other items.

Anyone have any links to good sources?
