How the heck do you mount the thing so it stays put?!

My Kenwood deck came with a separate plastic piece that holds the USB jack on 3 sides and has screw holes so you can panel mount it. I Dremel'd out a rectangular hole in the back of the glove box and screwed the piece down, and all was good for a few weeks. Then one day I was swapping flash drives and the !@?#$ cable pulled through the plastic piece and into the glove box. I shoved it back in and I think it's situated as it should be, but I imagine it'll happen again.

If anyone has dealt with this problem and fixed it permanently, I'd love to hear what you did. Thanks!

I've got one in my car. I just used a high quality velcro. It's weird velco. It's plastic and holds very well. Just make sure you clean both places that you're putting the adhesive very well, and velcro or 2 sided tape should hold it. If you use the 2 sided tape, I'd use the 3m trim tape. Hope this helps.

It may come to tape and Velcro eventually, but the glove box was less of a pain to take out than I thought--I had the whole dash torn apart to run cables during the install, but it's only about 8 screws to remove just the glove box. I just put it back in like it was, and cable-tied around the plastic pocket (which had a notch that was probably meant for cable ties in the first place).

I found this cable online, which I may buy if it happens again or for a future install. They also have a 1/8" panel-mount extender for a stealthy rear-Aux.
