Default 2001 with Monsoon

I just got a 2001 with the Monsoon system today. I noticed that the radio comes on and tunes to stations just fine. The volume knob also works correct, as in going from MIN to MAX. My problem is that there is simply no sound output. I have checked the door jamb fuses which all test good. Is there any other places for fuse hiding of the Monsoon amp, or should I just figure the amp itself has gone out? Not that it should matter, but there is a changer in the trunk as well. Thanks in advance.

YOu get no sound from anything?......CD, Tape, FM, AM ?!?!? Is the AMP hooked up? You should find it in the back left corner when you lift the carpet to get to the spare tire, it will be tucked in near the left tail light area.

According to my literature, there is a 30amp fuse off the vehicle fuse block that goes to the AMP.

There is no sound output from any source. This is what led me to believe it was the amplifier.

With this info, I'm inclined to agree with you, but it could still be the radio, There is a chip inside the radio that monitors speaker outputs for shorts or open wires, that can short itself out, also corrosion in the radio from the middle left A/C vent dripping onto the radio.

Have you found the 30 amp fuse that controls the AMP?

Due to time constraints, I had to hope for the best and ask if there was a potential quick fix on here. I did check all of my fuses which were good. Before I make my next statement, know I am a certified mobile installer. Today after work, I hooked up my replacement stereo and found the same thing...no sound at all. This just ticked me off so I am left with my alternative decision. I will be rewiring the entire car with a new head unit, 4 channel amp, and all new speakers. I don't want to get half way in this project and find that I need to do something else, so I am just planning to do it all at once. Thanks for the response though!

Well, a 2nd radio pretty much clears that up, Did you find the amp?
I have a pin configuration for the plugs if you want it. I can post a picture of the connectors if you just want to splice the wires at the amp, then all you need to do is Speakers.

Sure, if you have the pinout of the amp plugs that would be great. I was going to put a Kicker 4 channel in there along with new speakers. If I could bypass the amp, with the pinout, that would save me a bit of money for now!

Some rather hilarious news! As I was removing the monsoon amp today, I noticed that one of the plugs wasn't fully seated in the plug socket. I plug it in and now I have sound! Go figure that the whole problem was the darned amp plug not fully inserted!

Sounds great (pun intended).

Glad that it didn't cost you more than time.
