Default Monsoon CD stereo in place of a Monsoon Tapedeck stereo

So i'd like to take the tape deck Monsoon out of my wife's 2000 Beetle and replace it with the CD player Monsoon stereo that came out of a 2005 or 2006 Beetle

will they interchange with no problems?

will there be a need for a code once the CD player Stereo is installed?

will the BACK plugs from my Monsoon tape deck system fit the back of the Monsoon CD stereo?

will the CD stereo basically drop in without any other modification?

Does your old radio turn on with a power button to the right of the volume control?

actually, my wife's radio isn't even Monsoon, it's regular VW and there is indeed an ON power button to the right of the volume.

would it take ANY Monsoon stereo? Cassette or CD?

There are differences between the 2 radios. The CD radio uses the antenna cable to power the amplifier in the base of the antenna, your radio should have a separate wire to do the same thing. VW had put out a bulletin on not mixing up the antenna bases between the 2, or you won't have good reception.

Being a non Monsoon car isn't a problem as the dealer should be able to code the CD radio to the car for a Non Monsoon application.

Have you thought about an aftermarket radio?
